  4. Happy Saturday.

The Theme of this week "Sugar"! My worst enemy! All of the articles and videos were eye opening. The one that probably best fit me was the "Sugar Addiction". Any time I eat sugar the cravings never stop. No matter how small a piece of candy or cookie I start with it always ends with a full bag of candy or cookies. Then depression sets in just to start the vicious circle again!! It is never ending. The one thing I do know for sure is sugar is not my friend.

I was able to get 5 workouts in this past week!! YEA!!

We are starting our 2nd week of the Challenge! We got this!

    Remember Strong Starts Here!!

    Go Team Strong!!!

  5. Bacon only breakfast chased by some Carlson's cod liver oil. Going for a swim later! Feeling the soreness from this week so I'm going for some light recovery in the swim. I've noticed that I'm able to sprint pretty decent lately. Still struggling with any real distance. Hopefully as the weight keeps dropping, the running will become more efficient and less painful. Little by little, I feel like I'm getting back in stride. This will be our best challenge yet...I can feel it! Great job EVERYONE, but most important...TEAM DETERMINED!

  6. Something that has stuck with me is the importance of not substituting your sugar when going strict paleo in order to retrain your tastebuds and brain to not crave that sweet taste. That has been a major adjustment for me since I'm all about the honey to sweeten things up. We missed the WOD today because we overslept (grrr!) so I'll have to sneak in a workout today because as of right now I feel like I NEED to work out haha
    Let's go TEAM STRONG!

  7. I realized the same as some others. Sugar is literally addicting and you have to cut it out completely to be successful and to make the cravings stop. Cravings for sweets have pretty much stopped or they aren't too serious...normally a few grapes or a banana stops them.

    Abs this morning were great!!
Team STRONG! (Glad got to meet a few more of my team strong members!)

  8. Ah! The struggle is real. Looking at my food journal entries and I have to say it's not perfect. All of the new things. We gotta start somewhere right?

    What I've learned this week:
-I'm a visual learner. A graph or a pie chart of some sort instead that is color coded helps me see what all i'm consuming more clearly.
-Don't be afraid of the food scale
-"Ashley, have some jerky. You're not you when you're hungry." (Protein is life)

Still hanging there though. Go Team Determined!!

  10. This week I learned that you don't really miss sugar if you don't normally consume much of it. On the flipside, if you consume a lot of sugar its prolly a shock to the system when you stop the sugar intake. Sugar is in more food items than I was aware of.

I also learned this week to celebrate the small accomplishments that felt like big decisions....turning down that pop tart, choosing a glass of water instead of wine....feels really good to make good decisions.

Great, great Saturday morning at the box. Go TEAM STRONG

  13. I loved sugar...but I'm over it now...I think. this week was a lot tougher than I thought now that I reflect on it. But what I realized is that I changed my thinking this week by telling myself I can do it and just doing what I say I'm gonna do. When I ran today I felt really good and strong. I didn't feel tired, and I was excited to run! I havent felt excited to run in a while and I think it's because of how I've been eating and going to the gym and actually training again. So I'm definitely gonna keep this eating up, and give up a bunch of crap food because it makes me weak and feel bad.

  15. Not afraid to admit that I am a Sugar Junkie, but I've been owning it especially during this challenge.

Didn't get to make it to the box today, but kept myself busy doing Honey Do's for the wifey. Mopping is good excercise especially when you keep your core tight. ;-)

B- so busy all I had was a banana and almonds

L- combo of paleo leftovers Turkey, carrots, broccolli, cauliflower, cucumber slices, 1/2 an avovado and sweet potato.

    S- almonds and orange

    D-???????

    Staying motivated and dedicated!

  16. Cutting sugar out of my diet hasn't been easy. I love me some Diet DP. But, one day lead to day two, then three, etc and I'm not craving them any more. I guess I had never realized the power sugar really has over our body - addiction. I keep saying no to foods that i don't need and I'm feeling good about it. Some people act offended when you say "no thank you" to the food they're offering, but I feel stronger every time I'm able to stick to my guns. Go Team Strong!

  18. The week's focus on sugar made this week almost impossible. I consume sugar and alcohol when I'm stressed. But I'm happy to report that despite all the stressful personal issues this week, I did not falter! I may lose some friends due to my extreme grouchiness, but I am proud of myself. *insert Beyonce twerk*

  19. Learned so much this week about sugar. I have always been the one that believed calories in calories out. The types of calories didn't matter and after watching the videos today I clearly see the difference. I am seeing how all that sugar in your diet can be toxic and it is best to stay away from the HFCS. I have never really been one for cokes and thank goodness I was never hooked on them. Feeling good and strong without the sugar.

  20. Had an interesting day today. We are house sitting for my boss so that changed the scenery a bit. Still did well. I made a great dinner tonight consisting of stir fry sweet pots, asparagus, broccoli, bell pepper, and zucchini. Also had venison sausage and beef/venison burgers on the grill.

  21. I really enjoyed this morning's workout!

This week was hard. I love sugar and I'm a stress eater. I would love to say I workout when things get overwhelming but I usually go straight for ice cream. But now I know that sugar is addicting. It's not just fattening. It changes my brain chemistry. I don't think I can say I won't ever eat sugar again, but I look at it very differently. One week down Team Determined. I don't know about y'all but I feel leaner already!

  28. What sticks for me is that sugar has a similar effect to cocain! I know I have felt like an addict in the past, but once my body is rid of the sugar, everything really does improve - more focus and more energy! Great AB workout today! Thanks Charmaine! #teamSTRONG
