Lance

Lance- 5am athlete (pretty funny bio!)

Started CrossFit? June 2013....back when you had to audition before being allowed to participate in a group wod.  I distinctly remember trying to jump rope after a 30 year hiatus......I looked more like a leaning pogo stick.
Favorite class time?  5:00 a.m. of course!
What has been your greatest accomplishment since starting CF?  Not sure there's just one.  The rope climb meant a lot.  Eliminating sugar from my coffee.  Enduring Asa's lame jokes.
Favorite cheat meal?  Not sure there's just one.  Indian food (vegetable samosa, chicken biryani).  Burger & fries from Off Site Kitchen. The corn at Babe's Chicken.  Bourbon.  Ok, I need to stop thinking about cheat meals.
What do you do outside of CF?  I read other people's email for work.  My favorite hobby is trail running.....in the dark, with a headlamp. I am a volunteer guardian for the Senior Source (a local non-profit agency that takes care of vulnerable elderly folks).

Family: I've been married to my beautiful wife Uma for almost 14 years; we live in Sunnyvale and have 10 year old girl/boy/boy triplets that really put a crimp in any "me" time (see #2 above); I have a younger brother (Mitch) and we raced motocross together for many years as "Two Youts Racing".

What motivates or inspires you to come to class every week?  Crossfit makes me a happier, healthier, more confident person.  No Crossfit makes me a grumpy person.  I like to set a good example for my children by showing them the benefits of exercise and surrounding yourself with the right people.  But most of all, I'm inspired by all the incredible athletes and coaches at CFNM <insert group "aawwww">.
What is your favorite workout or type of workout, skill, or lift? My favorite type of workout is a long AMRAP.....maybe because I viewed myself as an endurance runner before joining Crossfit.  I like looking at the WOD and thinking there's no way I can do X for 20 minutes, and then realize I'm still pushing hard at the end.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
